'THE MANDALORIAN' (2019) REVIEW

Image
Lucasfilm, Disney Media Distribution Age Certificate:  TV-14 IMDb:   8.7/10 Rotten Tomatoes:   93/100 Cast Pedro Pascal 'Din Djarin' / 'The Mandalorian' Carl Weathers 'Greef Karga' Werner Herzog 'The Client' Omid Abtahi 'Dr. Pershing' Nick Nolte 'Kuiil' Taika Waititi 'IG-11' Gina Carano 'Cara Dune' Giancarlo Esposito 'Moff Gideon' Emily Swallow 'The Armorer' The Mandalorian Season 2 trailer dropped last week! The trailer dropped out of the blue which gave me so much anxiety. I should have been prepared but I guess dropping trailers unexpectedly is such a Lucasfilm/Disney thing to do. The trailer did not disappoint, using dialogues from the first season's finale to introduce the premise of the second season. We got to see more clips of 'The Child' with Mando so hopefully we get to see more scenes; diving into a more developed relationship between Mando and the...

FILM RECOMMENDATIONS: ROMANCE (2005-17)

Summit Entertainment, Lionsgate Films Age Certificate: 12A IMDb: 8/10 Rotten Tomatoes: 91/100 Plot Sebastian and Mia are drawn together by their common desire to do what they love. But as success mounts, they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their love affair, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart. Review The highlight of the film is the colour palette of the film and how it matches the aesthetics but also the tone. The plot is typical; 2 people who want to develop a relationship but also strive in their careers. What makes the story good? The tone. Accompanied by music, you can see the dedication Stone and Gosling put in their acting to make their relationship feel real and interesting. The ending of the film was unconventional and the last 10 minutes is the reason for making the whole film emotional. My rating: 8.5/10 British Film Institute (BFI) Age Certificate:  12A IM...

FILM RECOMMENDATIONS: CLASSICS (1971-95)

Universal Pictures Age Certificate:   15 IMDb: 7.9/10 Rotten Tomatoes: 89/100 Plot Five high school students, all with different mindsets, face detainment in their school library on a Saturday morning. As time passes by, their egos fade and they become close buddies. Review Another favourite single-day structured narrative; just like 'American Graffiti' (1973), 'Superbad' (2007) and 'Booksmart' (2019), the film presents realism and allows the audience to empathise with the characters. In a short time, the characters manage to change their attitude and how they perceive one another. In any other film, it would be too quick of a character development that you won't care for the characters, however, for a single-day narrative, you feel like you have spent too much time with the characters that you feel like you know them on a personal level. My only criticism would be the stereotypical 'male gaze' scenes that are not too hard to miss. ...
