YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS: KOREAN DRAMAS

Image
SHORT REVIEWS YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS ********** I'm not a huge fan of K dramas apart from their mystery/crime genre dramas. But I think I would still like to explore more as I was surprised to like some such as 'Love Alarm', 'The K2' and '18 Again'. Thanks to those who have suggested these dramas. I for sure will be checking them out in the future! Sabina 🦁

FILM RECOMMENDATIONS: INTERNATIONAL (2001-20)

Universe Entertainment Ltd., Miramax Films Age Certificate:  12A Language: Cantonese Country: Hong Kong IMDb:   7.3/10 Rotten Tomatoes:   90/100 Plot A Shaolin follower assembles his five childhood friends so that they can use their martial arts skills to play football and thereby popularise Shaolin kung fu. Review This film feels like a classic even though was released not too long ago. I admire Chow for adding comedy to his films as that makes the story feel more wholesome and memorable. Chow combines both martial arts and sports, particularly football (soccer), which must have inspired other films such as 'Kung Fu Dunk' (2008) which follows a similar narrative of the main character using his skills in martial arts to play sports. My rating:   8.5/10 Columbia Pictures, Star Overseas Age Certificate:  15 Language:  Cantonese Country:  Hong Kong IMDb:   7.7/10 Rotten Tomatoes:   90/100 Plot In Shanghai, China in ...

FILM RECOMMENDATIONS: HORROR & THRILLER (2016-19)

Image
New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures Age Certificate: 15 IMDb: 7.3/10 Rotten Tomatoes:   85/100 Plot Seven helpless and bullied children are forced to face their worst nightmares when Pennywise, a shape-shifting clown, reappears. The clown, an ancient evil that torments children before feeding on them. Review A classic thriller by Stephen King; as good as the book in terms of storytelling, Muschietti (dir.) delivers nostalgia, comedy, and horror thriller all in one. As someone who has read the book, the cast portray their respective characters to my imagination and probably better to what I expected. Each character is unique and the dilemmas they face as children allows us to sympathise with them; it opens up the discussion of the maturity and independence of children and the problems they face in an adult world (really, children are living in a world where adults run everything and children are more or less ignored).
