'INCREDIBLES 2' (2018) REVIEW

Image
It has been 14 years since the release of the first film 'The Incredibles'. Some say it was the perfect animation film of its time. It was a family oriented, fun adventure and should be considered a cult classic in the future with many asking for a sequel to be released and after a decade, it has now been given the green light from the studio. The sequel was incredible (no pun intended). It's definitely worth a second watch and it is one of those films which you don't want it to end whilst at the cinemas. It's like the time I got excited about watching 'Jurassic World' (2015) for the second time. Still exciting. I kept thinking about the narrative and wanting to know what happens next. It kept my engagement throughout. The narrative asks the question: 'should superheroes be legal'? It is a concept that has been done before and very similar to 'Captain America: Civil War' (2016) except that this film wants to ban s...

But when a crazed convict escapes and footprints from a beast are found, Baskerville wonders if Watson will be enough. My rating: 8.7/10 Hammer Film Productions, United Artists Age Certificate:  PG IMDb:   7/10 Rotten Tomatoes:   100/100 Plot Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson meet with a certain Dr. Mortimer, who tells them of the legend of the "hound," born out of a murder committed by Sir Hugo Baskerville centuries ago. FILM RECOMMENDATIONS: RECENT RELEASES (2017-18)

Marvel Studios, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Age Certificate: 12A IMDb: 7.9/10 Rotten Tomatoes: 92/100 Plot Imprisoned on the other side of the universe, the mighty Thor finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Hulk, his former ally and fellow Avenger. Thor's quest for survival leads him in a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela from destroying his home world and the Asgardian civilisation. Review The third film in the trilogy; director, Taika Waititi, takes a turn on the film as he changes the tone to be less "dark" as shown in the first two films and more colourful (as seen by the poster), fun and a more comedic even for a Marvel film. In my opinion, though Thor is the lead character, it's Loki, played by Hiddleston, who always steals the show. Korg was also another scene stealer (portrayed by Waititi). My rating: 8.5/10 TSG Entertainment, Fox Searchlight Pictures Age Certi...

'JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM' (2018) REVIEW

Image
J.A Bayona presents a new addition to the Jurassic Park franchise with not only Sci-Fi and adventure but the inclusion of classic horror. It was quite clear what the tone of the film was going to be once Bayona was associated with Jurassic World. Like his previous work, Bayona focuses on the horror genre, making the film's tone very dark in comparison to Colin Trevarrow's Jurassic World (2015). Jurassic World marketing portrayed a family fun adventure at a dinosaur park whereas the sequel presents a dark story about the park's dinosaurs. I remember watching the original Jurassic Park (1993) on VHS every day when I was a toddler. Stephen Spielberg is a great storyteller but that was already known since Jaws, E.T and Indiana Jones. Jurassic Park was known for its use of animatronics as well as using practical effects more than digital effects / CGI. It brought the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park to life and looks so real that it really does scare you as an...
